Contact Us for Bergen County Records

This is a private reference site, not a government office. We cannot confirm whether someone is in custody or has been released, post bond, arrange release, or retrieve an official booking record. Use the responsible government office or locator below for those matters.

Choose the Official Record Holder

Use the office that keeps the type of record you need. The Sheriff and BCCRC serve different but related roles, and an arrest record, a custody entry, and a court result are not interchangeable.

Bergen County Sheriff’s Office: Two Bergen County Plaza, Hackensack, NJ 07601. The official 24-hour Operations number is 201-336-3500. The county directory identifies the jail as 201-336-3500 ext. 7900.

Bergen County Correctional and Rehabilitation Center: 160 South River Street, Hackensack, NJ 07601. For a live county-facility custody search, use the official BCCRC Inmate Look Up. Its direct facility material lists 201-527-3000; that number and the jail extension serve different published functions.

Sheriff Records Bureau: Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., excluding holidays. For a narrowly described booking record, booking photograph, commitment record, or transfer/release record, use the county OPRA portal or the Sheriff’s current request form. The form lists policerecords@bcsd.us. New Jersey’s Open Public Records Act, N.J.S.A. 47:1A-1 et seq., generally provides seven business days for an available record, subject to exceptions, clarification, and the proper custodian.

  • Current county custody: start with the BCCRC Inmate Look Up. A missing entry can reflect release, transfer, another booking destination, or the portal’s limits.
  • Bergen Sheriff or BCCRC record: submit a focused written request through the county OPRA portal or the Sheriff records route. Name the person, date, agency, facility if known, and the specific record sought.
  • Municipal police record: ask the arresting department or its municipal records custodian. The Hackensack, Teaneck, and Fort Lee guides identify their distinct local paths.
  • Later case status or disposition: use New Jersey Courts Find a Case. Municipal matters may require the court, ticket, or complaint number; a booking entry is not the final outcome.
  • State-prison custody: use the New Jersey Department of Corrections Offender Search. It is for state corrections records, not a real-time Bergen jail roster, and it does not promise a photograph for every result.
  • Federal or immigration custody: use the Federal Bureau of Prisons inmate locator or the ICE Online Detainee Locator System, as applicable. Those systems have separate scope from BCCRC.
  • Warrant concern: review the relevant court record or attorney guidance. The Sheriff’s Warrant Unit uses 201-336-3500 ext. 4500 for its enforcement role; it is not a public name-search warrant database.
